Adhesives and Sealants

An adhesive is a sticky material that binds two objects together. There are many kinds of adhesives, according to the source of materials can be divided into natural adhesives and synthetic adhesives. Natural adhesives are taken from natural substances, such as starch, protein, rosin and other biological adhesives, as well as mineral adhesives such as asphalt; synthetic adhesives refer to synthetic substances, including inorganic adhesives such as water glass and organic adhesives such as synthetic resins and synthetic rubber. According to the characteristics of use, it can be divided into water-soluble adhesive, hot melt adhesive, solvent adhesive, emulsion adhesive and solvent-free liquid adhesive. Water-soluble adhesive refers to the adhesive with water as solvent, mainly starch, dextrin, polyvinyl alcohol and so on. Hot melt adhesive is a kind of solid adhesive, which is melted by heating, such as polyurethane, polyacrylate and so on. A solvent adhesive is an adhesive, such as shellac, that is insoluble
in water but soluble in a solvent. Most emulsion adhesives are suspended in water, such as chlorinated rubber. A solvent-free liquid adhesive is a viscous liquid at room temperature, such as epoxy resin. According to the use, it is divided into industrial adhesive and agricultural and forestry adhesive, industrial adhesive is mainly used for color printing and packaging and the bonding of wooden furniture, agricultural and forestry adhesive is mainly used for slope greening or other soil structure improvement.
The adhesive has a certain storage period, which is closely related to the preservation environment, so in order to ensure that the performance of the adhesive remains unchanged within the specified period, we should store it strictly according to the storage method of each adhesive.

Sealant is a kind of material with good sealing effect, which is deformed with the shape of sealing cover and is not easy to flow, taking polymer material as matrix and preventing external impurities from invading and leakage of internal medium in the static joint of all kinds of machinery. Usually with asphalt, natural resin or synthetic resin and other viscous materials as the base material, with talc powder, carbon black and other inert fillers, and then adding plasticizers, curing agents, etc., it has the functions of anti-leakage, waterproof, anti-vibration, sound insulation and heat insulation. It can be divided into two categories: bonded type and non-bonded type. The bonding type can be divided into elastic type, hot melt type and anaerobic type, while the non-bonding type can be divided into dry fixation type, dry exfoliation type, semi-dry viscoelastic type and non-dry adhesion type. Widely used in chemical, hydraulic, electric power, coal mining, shipbuilding and other industries.
