Safety and Handling

Moderately toxic by ingestion. Will react with water or steam to produce toxic and corrosive fumes and explosive hydrogen gas. Platinum accelerates the reaction to violence. When Vanadium dichloride (CAS NO.10580-52-6) is heated to decomposition, it emits toxic fumes of VOx. See also HYDROCHLORIC ACID, VANADIUM COMPOUNDS, and CHLORIDES.
