What is Br3-?

Molecular bromine, with a chemical formula of Br2, is a diatomic molecule consisting of two bromine atoms. It exists as a dense, reddish-brown liquid at room temperature and pressure. Bromine is highly reactive and volatile, with a strong, pungent odor. It readily evaporates into a reddish-brown vapor when exposed to air, hence its characteristic color and odor. Bromine is sparingly soluble in water but highly soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, and carbon disulfide.

What is Polarity?

Polarity describes the distribution of electrical charge within a molecule. In chemistry, polarity refers to the separation of electric charge, leading to a molecule having positive and negative poles. Polarity arises due to differences in electronegativity between atoms within a molecule.

Electronegativity, the ability of an atom to attract electrons in a chemical bond, plays a significant role in determining polarity.
