エチルベンゼン

エチルベンゼンは、透明で無色の揮発性液体であり、軽いガソリン様の臭気を有する。これは芳香族炭化水素であり、単置換ベンゼン誘導体である。沸点は136 °C、融点は−95 °Cである。エチルベンゼンは主に化学中間体として用いられ、世界中のエチルベンゼン生産量の90％以上がスチレンの製造のために脱水素反応に供される。スチレンはポリスチレン樹脂および合成ゴムの重要なモノマーである。その用途は、主に高分子材料製造における上流工程での役割に限定されており、溶媒やその他の最終用途分野への直接的な応用は極めて少ない。

Ethylbenzene is used primarily to make styrene monomer (SM) [1]counting greater than 99%. It is the characteristic structure of single chain alternative fuels such as n-propylbenzene n-butylbenzene in diesel oil and aviation kerosene.[4] Ethylbenzene may be used as a starting material to synthesize: (1) Acetophenone via selection oxidation in the presence of potassium dichromate supported on neutral alumina and using air as the oxidizing agent. (2) Styrene via dehydrogenation over nanodiamonds in an oxygen-lean environment.
