臭化ナトリウム

臭化ナトリウムは、白色の結晶性で無臭の固体であり、常温条件下で水に非常に可溶であり、潮解性を示す。その融点は約747 °Cであり、沸騰前に分解する。臭化ナトリウムは無機イオン性化合物であり、臭化物イオンの供給源である。臭化ナトリウムは主に、医薬品、農薬、写真用化学薬品を含む他の臭素含有化合物の合成における臭素源として用いられる。また、工業的には臭素の製造、有機反応における触媒、特定の掘削液および鎮静剤製剤（歴史的に使用）の成分として利用される。代表的な応用分野には、医薬中間体、油田化学品、分析および合成化学における特殊試薬が含まれる。
