N-メチル-2-ピロリドン

N-メチル-2-ピロリドン（NMP）は、透明で無色～淡黄色の液体であり、特有の微弱な臭気を有し、揮発性が低い。融点は約−24 ℃、沸点は202–204 ℃である。これは極性非プロトン性有機溶媒であり、環状アミドに分類されるヘテロ環化合物である。N-メチル-2-ピロリドンは、高沸点・高双極子モーメントという特性を活かした工業用溶媒として広く用いられており、特にポリマーの溶解、電子部品の洗浄、およびリチウムイオン電池電極の製造工程で使用される。また、ポリイミド、アラミド、アクリル繊維の製造における重要な加工補助剤として機能し、医薬品合成、農薬製剤、および優れた溶解力と耐熱性が要求される特殊コーティング材の製造にも用いられる。
