벤잘아세톤(CAS 122-57-6)은 상온에서 옅은 황색에서 호박색을 띠는 결정성 고체로, 약간 달콤한 냄새와 중등도의 휘발성을 지니고 있으며, 융점은 약 40–43 °C, 끓는점은 약 260–265 °C이다. 이 물질은 α,β-불포화 방향족 케톤으로 분류되며, 주로 정밀 화학 합성에서 특수 유기 중간체로서 사용된다. 산업적으로 주된 용도는 초콜론 유도체, 자외선 흡수제 및 의약품 활성 성분(특히 항염증 및 항암 화합물 합성 경로에서)의 합성을 위한 구조 단위로서 활용되는 것이다. 또한 농약, 염료 및 기능성 고분자 제조에 사용되며, 특수 코팅재 및 광안정제 제형에 응용된다.
