Industrieruß ist ein feines, schwarzes, geruchloses, nichtflüchtiges Feststoffpulver, das hauptsächlich aus elementarem Kohlenstoff besteht. Er wird als anorganisches partikuläres Material klassifiziert – speziell als hergestellte Form von amorphem Kohlenstoff, der durch unvollständige Verbrennung oder thermische Zersetzung von Kohlenwasserstoffen gewonnen wird. Industrieruß wird weit verbreitet als Verstärkungsfüllstoff und Pigment in Gummiartikeln, insbesondere Reifen, eingesetzt, wobei er die Zugfestigkeit, Abriebfestigkeit und UV-Stabilität verbessert.
