Lithium phosphate Market share- How big is the Lithium phosphate market?

China and South Korea are the leading exporters of lithium phosphate, accounting for the majority of global shipments, while the United States, Germany, and Japan are the largest importers, driven by battery material demand. Lithium phosphate prices have remained relatively stable amid steady export volumes from Asia-Pacific producers. Export volumes from China increased modestly in 2023–2024, while imports by the EU and North America showed consistent growth, reflecting sustained demand for cathode precursors in lithium-ion battery manufacturing.

About Lithium phosphate

Lithium phosphate (Li₃PO₄) is a white, crystalline, odorless solid that is non-volatile and thermally stable, with a high melting point above 1,000 °C. It is an inorganic ionic compound classified as a lithium salt of phosphoric acid. Primarily used as a precursor or dopant in the synthesis of lithium-ion battery cathode materials—especially olivine-structured lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄)—it serves as a key intermediate in advanced battery material manufacturing. Its principal application area is in energy storage systems, particularly for electric vehicles and stationary grid-scale batteries. It is also employed in specialty ceramics and as a component in certain solid-state electrolytes.
