Li difluorophosphate (LiPO₂F₂) is a white to off-white crystalline solid at room temperature, odorless and non-volatile, with a melting point of approximately 210–215 °C (decomposes before boiling). It is an inorganic lithium salt and a fluorinated phosphate compound. Primarily used as an electrolyte additive in lithium-ion batteries, it enhances low-temperature performance, improves solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) stability, and mitigates transition metal dissolution from cathodes. Its main commercial application is in high-performance battery electrolytes for electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and energy storage systems. It serves as a functional additive rather than a bulk electrolyte component and is incorporated during electrolyte formulation.
