أسيتاميد ثنائي الميثيل (N،N-ديميثيل أسيتاميد) هو سائل عديم اللون ذي رائحة خفيفة تشبه رائحة الأسماك، ويتميز بقدرته العالية على الذوبان في الماء والمحاليل العضوية، وله نقطة غليان مرتفعة نسبيًّا تبلغ حوالي ١٦٥ درجة مئوية. يُصنَّف كـ«أميد عضوي» وهو مذيب قطبي قوي غير متفاعل كيميائيًّا مع العديد من المركبات، مما يجعله مناسبًا للاستخدام في بيئات تفاعلية صعبة. يُستخدم بشكل رئيسي كمذيب متخصص في عمليات التصنيع الكيميائي، ولا سيما في تحضير البوليمرات مثل البولي أكريلونيتريل وبولي إيميد، وكذلك كوسيلة حاملة في تخليق المركبات الصيدلانية والمبيدات الزراعية. تشمل قطاعات تطبيقه الرئيسية الصناعات الدوائية، وتصنيع المواد الكيميائية الخاصة، وصناعات الطلاء والدهانات، وتصنيع الألياف الاصطناعية، حيث يُقدَّر لقدرته على إذابة المكونات الحساسة دون التأثير على استقرارها الكيميائي.
