Calcium chloride is a white, crystalline solid at room temperature, highly hygroscopic and readily soluble in water; it is odorless and non-volatile, with a melting point of 772 °C (anhydrous) and decomposes before boiling. It is an inorganic ionic compound, classified as a metal halide salt. Calcium chloride is widely used as a de-icing agent, dust suppressant, and desiccant due to its strong affinity for water. In industrial applications, it serves as a coagulant in food processing (e.g., tofu production), a setting accelerator in concrete, and a brine component in refrigeration systems and oilfield completion fluids. It is also employed in the manufacture of calcium-based chemicals and as a source of calcium ions in water treatment and pharmaceutical formulations.
Calcium chloride (CaCl2) has many uses. It is used as a drying agent and to melt ice and snow on highways, to control dust, to thaw building materials (sand, gravel, concrete, and so on). It is also used in various food and pharmaceutical industries and as a fungicide.
Calcium chloride, CaC12, is colorless deliquescent solid that is soluble in water and ethanol. It is formed from the reaction of calcium carbonate and hydrochloric acid or calcium hydroxide and ammonium chloride. It is used in medicine, as an antifreeze, and as a coagulant.
