Butyl acrylate Market share- How big is the Butyl acrylate market?

China, Germany, and the United States are the leading exporters of butyl acrylate, collectively accounting for over 50% of global exports in recent years; major importers include India, South Korea, and Mexico, reflecting strong demand from regional coatings, adhesives, and polymer manufacturing sectors. Import volumes into Southeast Asia and India have risen steadily since 2022, coinciding with moderate upward pressure on butyl acrylate prices amid tightening supply chains and feedstock cost volatility.

Butyl acrylate Market Analysis

Recent Market Dynamics of Butyl Acrylate
1. **Price Trends**
- The domestic market price of butyl acrylate has recently exhibited narrow fluctuations. In the East China region, the main quotation range is between 9,500 and 9,800 RMB/ton. Some traders have allowed for a certain degree of flexibility in actual transaction prices based on inventory and order conditions, with bargaining room of approximately 100–200 RMB/ton.
- Prices in the South China region are similar to those in East China, with main quotations ranging from 9,600 to 9,900 RMB/ton. Influenced by downstream enterprise operating rates and logistics costs in the local area, price fluctuations are slightly more frequent than in East China.
- Prices in the North China region are slightly lower, with main quotations between 9,300 and 9,600 RMB/ton. This is primarily due to the larger production capacity of certain enterprises in the region, which intensifies market competition and exerts downward pressure on prices.
2. **Supply Situation**
- The overall operating rate of domestic butyl acrylate producers remains around 75%–80%. Large enterprises such as Satellite Chemical and Shanghai Huayi maintain stable device operations, with high capacity utilization rates, ensuring ample product supply and holding a significant market share.
- Recently, a small number of enterprises have temporarily reduced production loads due to equipment maintenance or raw material supply issues. However, the overall impact on market supply is limited. As some maintained devices are scheduled to resume production next week, market supply is expected to increase.
3. **Demand Situation**
- Demand from downstream industries shows divergence. The adhesive industry, one of the primary consumption areas for butyl acrylate, has maintained an operating rate of around 80%, leading to stable demand. However, due to slow growth in terminal market orders, procurement enthusiasm remains low, with buyers adopting a buy-as-needed approach.
- Demand from the coating industry has improved. With the gradual recovery of the real estate sector and an increase in infrastructure project starts, coating enterprises have increased their operating rates, leading to higher procurement volumes of butyl acrylate. However, the overall incremental demand remains limited.
- Demand from other downstream sectors, such as plastic additives, has remained largely unchanged, with normal procurement rhythms maintained.
4. **Raw Material Market**
- Acrylic acid, the main raw material for butyl acrylate, has remained relatively stable recently, with main quotations between 7,000 and 7,300 RMB/ton. The stability of raw material prices provides cost support for the butyl acrylate market but also limits the potential for significant price increases.
- The price of n-butanol has shown slight fluctuations recently. In the East China region, the main quotation for n-butanol ranges from 7,800 to 8,100 RMB/ton, an increase of 100–200 RMB/ton compared to earlier periods. The rise in n-butanol prices has increased production costs for butyl acrylate, prompting some producers to seek price increases to offset cost pressures.
5. **Market Sentiment**
- Traders maintain a cautious attitude. Due to the lack of significant demand growth and the expectation of increased supply, traders tend to adopt a fast-in-fast-out strategy, avoiding large inventory holdings to mitigate the risk of price volatility.
- Downstream enterprises maintain a stable procurement mindset. With limited price fluctuations, they primarily procure on an as-needed basis to maintain normal production inventory levels, adopting an wait-and-see attitude toward future price trends.

Analysis and Judgment
1. **Supply Side**: With the resumption of production by some maintained devices, market supply will increase, amplifying supply pressure and exerting downward pressure on butyl acrylate prices.
2. **Demand Side**: Although downstream demand has improved, the overall growth rate is limited, making it difficult to provide strong support for market prices. However, the increased demand from the coating industry has somewhat alleviated supply pressure.
3. **Cost Side**: Acrylic acid prices remain stable, while rising n-butanol prices increase production costs. To protect profit margins, producers have the incentive to raise prices. However, constrained by market demand, the magnitude of price increases may be limited.

Forecast
1. **Short-term (1–2 weeks)**: The market price of butyl acrylate will continue to fluctuate within a narrow range, expected between 9,400 and 9,900 RMB/ton. The contradiction between increased supply and slow demand growth will hinder price increases, while cost support will limit price declines.
2. **Medium-term (1–2 months)**: If downstream demand shows no significant improvement and supply continues to increase, market prices may experience a slight decline, potentially falling to the 9,200–9,600 RMB/ton range. However, attention should be paid to changes in raw material prices; a significant rise in acrylic acid or n-butanol prices would provide support for butyl acrylate prices.
3. **Long-term (3–6 months)**: With the improvement of the macroeconomic situation and the gradual release of downstream demand, the market price of butyl acrylate is expected to stabilize and recover. The extent of recovery will depend on the speed of demand growth and supply adjustments, with prices projected to rise to the 9,600–10,200 RMB/ton range.

About Butyl acrylate

Butyl acrylate is a clear, colorless liquid with a characteristic pungent, fruity odor and moderate volatility; it has a boiling point of approximately 145–148 °C and a melting point near −65 °C. It is an α,β-unsaturated ester and belongs to the class of acrylic monomers. Primarily used as a reactive comonomer in free-radical polymerization, it imparts flexibility, adhesion, and weather resistance to acrylic resins. Its principal applications are in water-based and solvent-borne coatings, architectural paints, adhesives, sealants, and textile and paper finishes. It serves as a key building block for copolymers in latexes, emulsion polymers, and pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Intermediate in organic synthesis, polymers andcopolymers for solvent coatings, adhesives, paints, binders, emulsifiers.
Butyl acrylate is a colorless liquid with a sharp odor. It is readily miscible with most organic solvents. Butyl acrylate contains one of the following three inhibitors to prevent polymerization under recommended storage conditions:Hydroquinone (HQ) CAS 123-31-95Monomethyl ether of hydroquinone (MEHQ) CAS 150-76-5Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) CAS 128-37-0
