Magnesium carbonate Market share- How big is the Magnesium carbonate market?

China, the United States, and Germany are the leading exporters of magnesium carbonate, collectively accounting for over 60% of global exports in recent years; major importers include India, South Korea, and Brazil, with India consistently ranking first among importers. Imports by India and South Korea have grown steadily since 2022, coinciding with moderate upward pressure on magnesium carbonate prices amid tightening supply from key Chinese producers.

About Magnesium carbonate

Magnesium carbonate is a white, odorless, fine crystalline powder that is non-volatile and thermally stable up to its decomposition temperature (~350 °C), at which it releases carbon dioxide to form magnesium oxide. It is an inorganic salt classified as a basic metal carbonate. Industrially, it serves primarily as a precursor for magnesium oxide production and as a filler or additive in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food supplements (e.g., as an anticaking agent or dietary magnesium source). It is also used in the manufacture of refractory materials, rubber compounding, and as a neutralizing agent in wastewater treatment. Typical application areas include pharmaceuticals, food processing, personal care products, and specialty ceramics.
