Copper(I) chloride Market share- How big is the Copper(I) chloride market?

China and Germany are the leading exporters of Copper(I) chloride, accounting for the largest shares of global shipments in recent years, while the United States, South Korea, and India represent the top importing countries. Copper(I) chloride prices have remained relatively stable amid moderate trade volume fluctuations across key markets. Exports from China have expanded steadily since 2022, while U.S. imports have shown consistent growth, reflecting sustained industrial demand in semiconductor and catalyst applications.

About Copper(I) chloride

Copper(I) chloride is a white to off-white crystalline solid that darkens on exposure to air due to oxidation; it is odorless, non-volatile, and decomposes before melting (decomposition onset ~422 °C). It is an inorganic copper salt and a common source of Cu⁺ ions in synthetic chemistry. Industrially, it serves primarily as a catalyst and stoichiometric reagent in organic synthesis—especially in Ullmann-type coupling reactions, hydrochlorination of acetylene to vinyl chloride, and as a dehalogenation agent. Its principal application areas include the production of vinyl chloride monomer, specialty chemicals for agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals, and as a component in certain conductive inks and pigments.

Copper chloride is also known as cupric chloride, this substance was madeby treating copper carbonate with hydrochloric acid. Thegreenish blue crystals are soluble in water, alcohol, and ether. This halide was added to printing-out and silver bromideemulsions for increased contrast.
