Diethylenetriamine Market share- How big is the Diethylenetriamine market?

China, Germany, and the United States are the leading exporters of Diethylenetriamine (CAS 111-40-0), collectively accounting for over 50% of global export value in 2023–2024; major importers include India, South Korea, and Mexico, driven by demand from polymer, pharmaceutical, and agrochemical sectors. Import volumes in Southeast Asia and India have risen steadily since 2022, coinciding with moderate upward pressure on Diethylenetriamine prices amid tightening supply from key European producers.

II. Supply-Demand Analysis

1. Supply Situation:
- Domestic DETA production capacity is expanding steadily, with major producers including Shandong Qiangsen Chemical, Shandong Aite Chemical, Jiangsu Xinsu New Materials, and Shandong Zhuoyu Chemical.
- Imported brands such as BASF-YPC, Tosoh, Huntsman, and Nouryon also hold a notable market share, generally commanding higher prices than domestic products.

2. Demand Situation:
- As a key organic amine chemical intermediate, DETA is widely used in epoxy resin curing agents, pesticides, water treatment chemicals, chelating agents, and lubricant additives.
- Demand for DETA is growing steadily, driven by continuous expansion of downstream applications and industrial upgrading. Notably, demand from the epoxy resin curing agent sector is rising significantly, benefiting from rapid development in emerging industries such as new-energy vehicles and smart power grids.

III. Price Fluctuation Analysis

1. Price Differentiation:
- Significant price variations exist across brands, origins, and purity grades. Imported and premium-grade products typically command higher prices, whereas standard domestic industrial-grade products are comparatively more affordable.
- Quotations for identical brand, origin, and purity may fluctuate slightly over time; however, overall price ranges remain relatively stable.

2. Key Price Influencing Factors:
- Raw Material Costs: Price volatility of critical feedstocks—such as ethylenediamine—directly impacts DETA production costs.
- Supply-Demand Balance: Market supply-demand dynamics are pivotal determinants of pricing. Prices tend to rise under conditions of supply constraints or surging demand, and decline when supply outpaces demand.
- Regulatory Policies: Implementation of national and local environmental protection regulations, occupational safety standards, and related policies affects industry entry barriers and production costs, thereby influencing market prices.

IV. Future Outlook

1. Capacity and Output:
- China’s DETA production capacity is expected to continue steady growth over the coming years; however, the pace of expansion will become more rational, constrained by tightening environmental approvals, volatile raw material prices, and enhanced safety supervision.

2. Market Demand:
- Demand for DETA will sustain upward momentum, fueled by ongoing downstream application diversification and industrial upgrading. In particular, the epoxy resin curing agent segment offers substantial growth potential, propelled by booming new-energy vehicle and smart grid industries.
- Simultaneously, increasingly stringent environmental regulations will drive demand for high-performance, eco-friendly DETA products.

3. Price Trend:
- DETA prices are projected to remain broadly stable, though short-term fluctuations may occur due to raw material cost changes, supply-demand imbalances, and regulatory developments.
- Premium and imported products are likely to maintain relatively high price levels, while standard domestic industrial-grade product prices may face downward pressure amid intensifying competition.

4. Technological Development:
- Ammonolysis remains the dominant industrial process; however, greener, low-carbon synthesis routes—such as catalytic hydrogenation—are being progressively adopted by leading enterprises and are expected to become central to future industry technological upgrades.
- Wider adoption of intelligent manufacturing technologies will enhance production efficiency and product quality, while reducing manufacturing costs.

About Diethylenetriamine

Diethylenetriamine (DETA) is a colorless to pale yellow, hygroscopic liquid with a characteristic amine odor and moderate volatility; it has a boiling point of approximately 207 °C and a melting point near 8 °C. It is classified as a linear aliphatic polyamine and serves primarily as a chemical intermediate in organic synthesis. Its principal industrial applications include the production of chelating agents (e.g., EDTA derivatives), epoxy curing agents, and corrosion inhibitors. DETA is widely employed in polymer manufacturing—especially for polyamide and polyurea resins—as well as in agrochemicals (e.g., plant growth regulators and fungicide intermediates) and water treatment formulations.

Diethylenetriamine is manufactured by reacting ethylenedichloride and ammonia. It is used as a solvent, in organicsyntheses, and in a variety of industrial applications includinguse as a fuel component.
Diethylenetriamine is a corrosive liquid and a solvent(18, 139).

This chemical is included in Fine Chemicals. See more about what is Diethylenetriamine and Diethylenetriamine SDS information.
