Its principal industrial use is as a precursor to methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK), a key solvent and intermediate, and it is also employed in the production of other derivatives such as diacetone acrylamide. Diacetone alcohol finds application in coatings, inks, adhesives, and polymer systems—particularly where controlled reactivity, solvency, and compatibility with acrylic and vinyl resins are required.
