Guanidine hydrochloride Market share- How big is the Guanidine hydrochloride market?

China and India are the leading exporters of guanidine hydrochloride, collectively accounting for the majority of global shipments, while the United States, Germany, and South Korea represent the largest importers. Guanidine hydrochloride prices have remained relatively stable amid steady demand from pharmaceutical and agrochemical manufacturing sectors. Export volumes from China have increased modestly over the past two years, while imports by the European Union have shown consistent growth, reflecting sustained industrial uptake.

About Guanidine hydrochloride

Guanidine hydrochloride is a white, crystalline, hygroscopic solid with no significant odor and high water solubility; it decomposes before melting, typically above 180 °C. It is classified as an organic salt and a strong base derivative of guanidine. Primarily used as a chemical intermediate, it serves in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals—including antiviral and anticancer agents—and agrochemicals such as herbicides and plant growth regulators. It also finds application in the production of dyes, photographic chemicals, and specialty polymers. Its utility stems from its ability to act as a catalyst, denaturant, or building block in nitrogen-containing compounds across fine chemical manufacturing.

Guanidine hydrochloride is used in RNA isolation to dissociate nucleoproteins and inhibit RNase. Strong chaotropic agent useful for the denaturation and subsequent refolding of proteins. This strong denaturant can solubilize insoluble or denatured proteins such as inclusion bodies. This can be used as the first step in refolding proteins or enzymes into their active form. Urea and dithiothreitol (DTT) may also be necessary.
