Carbon Monoxide Market share- How big is the Carbon Monoxide market?

Germany, the United States, and Belgium are the leading exporters of CARBON MONOXIDE, collectively accounting for the majority of global shipments, while China, South Korea, and Japan represent the largest importers. These countries dominate trade flows due to their concentrated industrial gas infrastructure and demand from chemical synthesis and metallurgical applications. Trade volumes have remained relatively stable over the past three years, with modest fluctuations aligned with shifts in CARBON MONOXIDE prices and regional production capacity adjustments.

About Carbon Monoxide

Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, non-corrosive, and highly volatile gas at ambient conditions, with a boiling point of –191.5 °C and a melting point of –205.1 °C. It is classified as an inorganic chemical and a fundamental C1 building block in industrial chemistry. Carbon monoxide serves as a key reactant in large-scale catalytic processes, notably in the production of acetic acid via methanol carbonylation, phosgene for polyurethane and polycarbonate precursors, and hydroformylation (oxo synthesis) to yield aldehydes used in plasticizers and detergent alcohols. Its primary application areas include the manufacture of organic intermediates for polymers, agrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals, as well as in metal refining and chemical synthesis where controlled reduction or carbon insertion is required.

Carbon monoxide, CO, is a colorless, odorless, toxic gas. It is soluble in alcohol and cuprix chloride solutions, but insoluble in water. Carbon monoxide is formed by the incomplete oxidation of carbon. It is found in mines and carexhaust. Carbon monoxide is used in metallurgy as a reducing agent in smelting operations, in the production of carbony is for the separation of various metals, as an ingredient in the synthesis of phosgene, and as an intermediate in the production of methanol.
