Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is a clear, colorless, volatile liquid with a characteristic sharp, somewhat sweet odor. It is a secondary alcohol and a common organic chemical solvent, with a boiling point of 82.6 °C and a melting point of −89 °C. IPA is widely used as a solvent in coatings, inks, and cleaning formulations, and serves as a key intermediate in the production of acetone, isopropyl esters, and pharmaceutical actives. Its primary application areas include industrial cleaning, electronics manufacturing, pharmaceutical synthesis, and personal care products.
