Industrially, it serves primarily as a gelling agent, thickener, and stabilizer in lubricating greases, coatings, and printing inks. It is also used as a waterproofing agent in construction materials and as a catalyst or co-catalyst in polymerization processes, particularly in the production of polyolefins and elastomers. Typical application areas include lubricants, architectural coatings, adhesives, and rubber compounding.
