MSP serves primarily as a buffering agent, sequestrant, and source of bioavailable phosphorus in food processing, pharmaceutical formulations, and water treatment chemicals. It is widely used in the production of detergents, fire retardants, and metal surface treatment solutions, and functions as a precursor or intermediate in the synthesis of other phosphates for agrochemicals and catalysts.
