Sodium trimetaphosphate is a white, crystalline, odorless solid that is highly soluble in water and non-volatile; it decomposes before melting, typically above 500 °C. Industrially, it serves primarily as a sequestrant, dispersant, and crosslinking agent—especially in detergent formulations, water treatment chemicals, and food-grade preservatives.
