クロールアルデヒド

クロラール水和物は、無色の結晶性固体で、刺激的でクロロフォルムに似た臭気を持ち、中程度の揮発性を示す。融点は約57 °Cであり、沸騰する前に分解する。これは有機塩素化合物に分類され、ギメイナルジオールに属し、主に化学中間体として用いられる。産業上の主要な用途は、クロラール誘導体（歴史的にはDDTや医薬品成分であるトリクロロ酢酸など）の合成である。また、農薬および特定の医薬品の製造にも用いられるが、現代の製造工程における直接的な応用は限定的であり、極めて特殊な分野に限られている。

It is sometimes administered to patients being treated with cyclophosphamide and it is known to inhibit some aldehyde dehydrogenases.Besides, Chloral hydrate is a starting point for the synthesis of other organic compounds. It is the starting material for the production of chloral, which is produced by the distillation of a mixture of chloral hydrate and sulfuric acid, which serves as the desiccant.
