- Price Volatility:
- From August 2025 to April 2026, N-methylaniline prices exhibited an overall upward volatility trend, with the monthly average price rising from approximately RMB 22,160/ton to around RMB 23,150/ton.
- On June 26, 2026, the national average price stood at RMB 16,000/ton—the lowest level in three months—representing a decline from the previous peak of RMB 21,500/ton.

II. Supply-Demand Analysis
- Supply Side:
- Domestic production capacity is highly concentrated. Jingying New Materials Co., Ltd. (Jiangsu) is the global industry leader, with an annual capacity of 120,000 tons in 2024, accounting for over 60% of global market share.
- In 2025, China’s effective domestic capacity was approximately 368,000 tons, with actual output reaching about 315,000 tons; the industry’s average operating rate remained at a high level of 88%.
- Routine environmental inspections have accelerated the exit of small- and medium-sized producers, raising the CR5 (top-five firms’ market share) to over 55%.

- Demand Side:
- China’s domestic consumption volume reached approximately 161,000 tons in 2025, up 7.3% year-on-year; export volume totaled 9,000 tons, up 10.5% year-on-year, primarily destined for Southeast Asia, Europe, and South America.
- Downstream applications include dyes, pesticides, and pharmaceutical intermediates, with the dye industry representing the largest demand segment (approximately 45%).
- As the ‘Dual Reduction’ (reducing fertilizer and pesticide usage) policy deepens, the proportion of high-efficiency, low-toxicity pesticides continues to rise—prompting downstream customers to place greater emphasis on raw material batch consistency and supply chain security.

III. Cost and Policy Impacts
- Cost Pressures:
- Key feedstocks—including aniline and N-methylating agents—have seen year-on-year price increases. Aniline’s benchmark price reached RMB 9,525/ton in June 2026, transmitting cost pressure downstream.
- Fluctuating energy prices and increased investment in environmental protection equipment upgrades have further elevated production costs.

- Policy Impacts:
- Stricter national emission standards for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are driving enterprises to upgrade exhaust gas treatment facilities, indirectly increasing production costs.
- Routine environmental inspections continue to accelerate the withdrawal of small- and medium-scale capacities, further consolidating industry concentration.
- Enterprises should remain vigilant against green trade barriers arising from the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and updates to REACH regulations.

IV. Short- and Long-Term Outlook
- Short-Term Outlook (Q3–Q4 2026):
- Prices are expected to remain range-bound at elevated levels amid ongoing environmental inspections and rising raw material costs, with a projected fluctuation range of RMB 23,000–25,000/ton.
- Premium-grade product pricing will remain firm; conversely, pricing for lower-tier products may experience modest volatility due to supply-demand dynamics.

- Long-Term Outlook (2027–2030):
- With growing demand for electronic-grade products and expanding export markets, the price baseline is expected to gradually shift upward to RMB 26,000–28,000/ton.
- The share of high-purity (≥99.9%), low-metal-ion (Fe <5 ppm), and low-isomer products in total capacity is projected to increase from 38% to over 65%. Gross margins for electronic-grade and pharmaceutical-grade products will consistently exceed those of industrial-grade products by 30–50 percentage points.
- The 'Matthew Effect' (i.e., the rich-get-richer dynamic) will intensify; by 2026, enterprises possessing full-process green certifications and advanced application development capabilities are anticipated to command over 80% of the market share.

V. Risks and Opportunities
- Risks:
- Volatility in raw material prices may heighten cost uncertainty.
- Tightening environmental regulations may further inflate production costs and accelerate the exit of small- and medium-scale producers.
- International trade frictions and green trade barriers may constrain export growth.

- Opportunities:
- Technological upgrading and adoption of green production processes will drive industry-wide green transformation—reducing waste emissions (solid, liquid, gaseous) and enhancing production efficiency.
- Rising demand for electronic-grade and pharmaceutical-grade products will expand the high-end market, improving overall industry profitability.
- Export market expansion and advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative will offer new growth avenues.
