Industrially, it serves primarily as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of dyes, pigments, and agrochemicals—including certain herbicides and fungicides—and is used in the production of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) polymers. Its applications span polymer manufacturing, pesticide formulation, and specialty chemical synthesis, where its thermal stability and reactivity profile support controlled electrophilic substitution reactions.
