Stearic acid Market share- How big is the Stearic acid market?

In recent years, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the United States have been the leading exporters of stearic acid, collectively accounting for a majority of global shipments, while India, Mexico, and Vietnam emerged as top importers, reflecting strong demand from oleochemical and manufacturing sectors. Stearic acid prices have remained relatively stable amid steady export volumes from Southeast Asian producers, though minor upward pressure has accompanied increased Indian and Mexican import growth since 2023.

About Stearic acid

Stearic acid is a white, waxy solid at room temperature with a faint, tallow-like odor and low volatility; it melts at approximately 69–70 °C and boils at around 361 °C at atmospheric pressure. It is a saturated long-chain fatty acid (octadecanoic acid) classified as an aliphatic organic chemical and a natural carboxylic acid. Industrially, stearic acid serves primarily as a precursor for metal stearates (e.g., calcium, magnesium, zinc stearates), amide derivatives, and esters used in lubricants, plasticizers, and emulsifiers. Its principal application areas include personal care products (soaps, cosmetics), rubber processing (vulcanization activators), plastics (acid scavengers and mold-release agents), and coatings (matting agents and rheology modifiers).

It can be used as natural rubber, synthetic rubber (except butyl rubber) and latex curing active agent. It can also be used as raw material of plastic plasticizer and stabilizer. Medicine: it can be used for the preparation of ointments, suppositories, etc., as well as being used in the manufacture of cosmetics, candles, waterproof agent and polishing agent. The product can be used as a lubricant, defoamers and food additives in the food industry as well as the raw materials of glycerol stearate, stearic acid sorbitol anhydride esters and sucrose esters. It can also be used as standard reference product for gas analysis as well as the preparation of soap, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and other organic chemicals.
Pure product appears as white shiny soft small pieces. It is slightly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol, acetone, easily soluble in benzene, chloroform, ether, carbon tetrachloride, carbon disulfide, amyl acetate and toluene.

This chemical is included in Fine Chemicals. See more about what is Stearic acid and Stearic acid SDS information.
