Fluroxypyr is a white to off-white crystalline solid at room temperature, with low volatility and no characteristic odor; its melting point is approximately 118–120 °C. It is a synthetic pyridinyloxyacetic acid herbicide, classified as a chlorinated heteroaromatic carboxylic acid derivative. Fluroxypyr is primarily used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) precursor and as a key intermediate in the synthesis of selective post-emergence herbicides. Its principal commercial application is in agrochemical formulations targeting broadleaf weeds in cereals, pastures, and non-crop areas. It is not used as a solvent, polymer additive, dye, or coating component.
