Ferrous chloride Market share- How big is the Ferrous chloride market?

China and Germany are the leading exporters of ferrous chloride, accounting for a substantial share of global shipments, while the United States, India, and South Korea represent the largest importers. These countries consistently dominate trade flows, reflecting established industrial demand in water treatment, metallurgy, and chemical synthesis. Trade volumes have remained relatively stable since 2022, with modest growth in Asian imports offsetting flat demand in mature markets, and Ferrous chloride prices showing limited volatility amid steady supply from major producers.

Ferrous chloride Market Analysis

Chlorous Iron (Ferrous Chloride) Recent Market Dynamics Intelligence

I. Price Trends
- Recent Quotation Trends: According to price dynamics published by Shengyishe (Business Society), ferrous chloride prices remained relatively stable from July 1 to July 7, 2026, with no significant fluctuations observed. Specific quotations varied by region, brand, and specification; however, the overall market price range remained comparatively concentrated.
- Regional Price Differences: Noticeable regional price disparities exist for ferrous chloride, primarily driven by logistics costs, regional supply-demand imbalances, and brand premium factors. For instance, prices in eastern coastal regions may be slightly higher than those in western regions due to stronger local demand.
- Historical Price Comparison: Compared to November 2025, ferrous chloride prices have not experienced substantial increases or decreases, reflecting overall market stability.

II. Market Supply and Demand
- Supply Side:
- Production Capacity Distribution: China hosts numerous ferrous chloride producers, with production capacity widely distributed across the country. In recent years, stricter environmental regulations have led some small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) failing environmental compliance standards to exit the market, resulting in a moderate increase in industry concentration.
- Capacity Expansion: Although some enterprises have exited the market, large-scale manufacturers have enhanced production efficiency and product quality through technological innovation and industrial upgrading; several have even expanded capacity to meet growing market demand.
- Demand Side:
- Key Consumption Sectors: Ferrous chloride is widely used in industries such as steel manufacturing, electroplating, textile dyeing and printing, and pharmaceuticals. The steel industry constitutes the largest end-use segment, accounting for over half of total ferrous chloride demand.
- Demand Growth: With steady national economic growth and accelerated urbanization, steel output is projected to continue rising—thereby driving increased demand for ferrous chloride. Moreover, tightening environmental regulations are prompting steel enterprises to adopt ferrous chloride more extensively to improve environmental performance during production.

III. Industry Policies and Regulations
- Environmental Policies: The Chinese government enforces stringent environmental regulations on the ferrous chloride industry, mandating that all enterprises obtain pollutant discharge permits and strictly comply with prescribed emission control standards. Such policies compel enterprises to increase environmental investments and elevate environmental management standards throughout production.
- Trade Policies: Government adjustments to import tariffs and export tax rebate policies serve to regulate the ferrous chloride industry. Lowering import tariffs encourages imports to supplement domestic demand, while raising export tax rebate rates incentivizes enterprises to expand into international markets and enhance global competitiveness of ferrous chloride products.

IV. Market Analysis and Outlook
- Short-Term Outlook: In the near term, ferrous chloride prices are expected to remain stable. Balanced supply-demand conditions and a stable policy environment suggest limited price volatility.
- Medium- to Long-Term Outlook: Over the medium to long term, the ferrous chloride market is anticipated to maintain steady growth. Continued expansion of downstream industries and supportive environmental policies will sustain demand growth. Concurrently, technological innovation and industrial upgrading will improve production efficiency and reduce costs—further stimulating market demand.

V. Market Forecast
- Demand Forecast: Domestic ferrous chloride demand is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 5% over the next five years. By 2031, total demand is expected to reach around 26 million metric tons—primarily driven by sustained development in downstream sectors including steel, electroplating, and textile dyeing and printing.
- Supply Forecast: On the supply side, the ferrous chloride industry may face certain challenges. Stricter environmental enforcement is likely to drive non-compliant SMEs out of the market, thereby reducing overall supply volume. However, leading enterprises are expected to offset this impact through enhanced efficiency and quality via technological innovation and industrial upgrading, strengthening their competitive position. Additionally, some manufacturers may relocate production capacity closer to major downstream consumption hubs to minimize transportation costs.
- Price Forecast: Considering integrated factors—including supply-demand balance, policy environment, and competitive dynamics—ferrous chloride prices are expected to remain broadly stable. While localized or temporary price fluctuations may occur, overall price levels are unlikely to experience sharp upward or downward movements.

About Ferrous chloride

Ferrous chloride (FeCl₂), CAS Number 7758-94-3, is a white to greenish crystalline solid that is hygroscopic and typically encountered as the tetrahydrate (FeCl₂·4H₂O); it decomposes before boiling and melts at approximately 670–674 °C in its anhydrous form. It is an inorganic transition metal salt and a reducing agent commonly employed as a chemical intermediate. Its principal industrial uses include serving as a precursor in the production of ferric chloride, iron oxide pigments, and magnetic materials, as well as in wastewater treatment for phosphate removal and heavy metal precipitation. Ferrous chloride is also utilized in the synthesis of other iron-based compounds for applications in catalysts, metallurgy, and specialty chemicals.

Iron(II) chloride occurs in nature as the mineral lawrencite. Iron dichloride is used as a mordant for dyeing; and as a reducing agent. It also is used in pharmaceutical preparation; in sewage treatment; and in metallurgy.
Ferrous chloride is a pale greenish salt-likecrystal or power.
