D-バリン

D-バリンは、白色の結晶性固体で、特徴的な臭気を示さず、揮発性が低い。融点は約295–297 °C（分解を伴う）である。D-バリンは、天然に存在するα-アミノ酸であるバリンの右旋光性エナンチオマーであり、キラル有機化合物および特殊アミノ酸中間体に分類される。工業的には、D-バリンは主に医薬品合成の構成単位として用いられ、特にβ-ラクタム系抗生物質（例：特定のセファロスポリン系抗生物質）およびプロテアーゼ阻害剤の合成に使用されるほか、不斉触媒反応やペプチド由来医薬品の開発におけるキラルシントンとしても利用される。その主要な応用分野は医薬品およびファインケミカル合成であり、その立体化学的純度により、医薬品有効成分（API）における分子構造の精密な制御が可能となる。
