Barium chloride Market share- How big is the Barium chloride market?

China and India are the leading exporters of barium chloride, accounting for a substantial majority of global shipments, while the United States, Germany, and South Korea are the largest importers. Barium chloride prices have remained relatively stable amid consistent demand from chemical manufacturing and oilfield applications. Exports from China have slightly declined year-on-year since 2022, while Indian exports have expanded steadily, reflecting a gradual shift in production capacity and trade focus.

Barium chloride Market Analysis

Recent Market Intelligence Report on Barium Chloride

I. Price Trends
1. Domestic Market:
- Recent domestic barium chloride prices have shown a slight upward fluctuation. The quoted price for industrial-grade barium chloride with 98% purity in mainstream regions ranges from 3,200 to 3,500 RMB/ton. Prices for some high-end products have increased by 5%-10% due to differences in purity or particle size.
- Significant regional divergence: In East China, strong demand support from concentrated downstream chemical enterprises has driven prices approximately 3%-5% higher than in North China. In Southwest China, prices remain weak due to transportation costs.

2. International Market:
- Asian Market: China's FOB export price ranges from $480 to $520/ton, an increase of approximately 2% compared to last month, primarily driven by recovering demand in India and Southeast Asia.
- European and American Markets: Influenced by energy costs and environmental policies, European barium chloride prices remain stable at €650-700/ton. In the US market, prices have slightly risen to $580-620/ton due to low inventory levels.

II. Supply and Demand Dynamics
1. Supply Side:
- Domestic capacity utilization stands at approximately 75%, flat month-on-month. However, short-term supply is tight as some enterprises reduce production due to environmental inspections.
- Import volumes have decreased by 12% month-on-month, mainly due to rising international shipping costs and export restrictions in some countries.

2. Demand Side:
- Downstream industry demand shows divergence:
- The chemical sector (including barium salts, pigments, and rubber additives) shows stable demand, accounting for over 60% of the total.
- The glass and ceramics industries have seen an 8% month-on-month increase in demand, driven by the recovery of the real estate sector.
- The new energy sector (e.g., battery materials) has seen a 15% growth rate in demand for high-purity barium chloride, although its share remains low (approximately 5%).

III. Costs and Profits
1. Raw Material Costs:
- Prices for the main raw material, barite (barium sulfate), remain stable. However, fluctuations in energy prices such as coal and natural gas significantly impact production costs, with some enterprises transmitting cost pressures to downstream clients.

2. Profit Levels:
- The industry's average gross profit margin is approximately 15%-18%, a decline of 3 percentage points compared to the same period last year, primarily due to increased environmental protection investments and rising energy costs.

IV. Policies and Environmental Protection
1. Stricter domestic environmental policies have led to the suspension and rectification of some small and medium-sized enterprises that fail to meet emission standards, further increasing industry concentration.
2. The updated EU REACH regulation imposes stricter requirements on impurity content for imported barium chloride, creating technical barriers for exporting enterprises.

V. Analysis, Judgment, and Forecast
1. Short-term (1-3 months):
- Prices are expected to maintain an oscillating upward trend, supported by tight supply, downstream restocking demand, and the transmission of energy costs.
- Risk factor: A relaxation of environmental inspections could lead to a rapid release of supply, suppressing price increases.

2. Medium-term (3-6 months):
- Demand Side: The arrival of the traditional peak season for the chemical industry, combined with growing demand in the new energy sector, is expected to boost overall demand by 5%-8%.
- Supply Side: The release of new capacity lags, with capacity utilization expected to rise to 80%-85%, alleviating the tight supply situation.
- Price Forecast: Mainstream prices may shift to the range of 3,400-3,700 RMB/ton, and international FOB prices may exceed $530/ton.

3. Long-term (6-12 months):
- Industry consolidation will accelerate, with leading enterprises expanding their market share, leading to reduced price volatility.
- The demand share in the new energy sector is expected to rise to 10%, becoming a long-term supporting factor for prices, though the risk of technological substitution must be monitored.

VI. Key Variables to Monitor
1. Fluctuations in barite prices;
2. The intensity of domestic environmental policy enforcement;
3. The pace of demand release in the new energy sector;
4. Changes in international shipping costs.

About Barium chloride

Barium chloride is a white, crystalline, odorless solid that is highly soluble in water and hygroscopic; it melts at approximately 962 °C and decomposes before boiling. It is an inorganic ionic compound classified as a barium salt and a heavy metal chloride. Industrially, it serves primarily as a precursor for the production of other barium compounds—including barium carbonate, barium sulfate, and barium titanate—and as a chemical intermediate in the manufacture of pigments, ceramics, and specialty glass. Its applications are concentrated in the electronics industry (e.g., dielectric materials), oil and gas drilling fluids (as a weighting agent), and in the production of heat treatment salts and corrosion inhibitors.

(1) Barium chloride is mainly used for heat treatment of metals, barium salt manufacturing, electronic instruments, and used as water softener. (2) It can be used as dehydrating agent and analysis reagents, it is used for machining heat treatment Jing, see other barium chloride dihydrate. (3) Calibration instruments and devices, evaluation methodology, quality assurance/quality control.
It is colorless monoclinic crystal. (Α type) it is soluble in water, slightly soluble in hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, very slightly soluble in alcohol.
