Dimethyl sulfide Market share- How big is the Dimethyl sulfide market?

China and the United States are the leading exporters of dimethyl sulfide (CAS 75-18-3), accounting for the largest shares of global shipments in recent years, while India, South Korea, and Germany represent the top importing countries. Dimethyl sulfide prices have remained relatively stable amid moderate demand growth from chemical intermediates and flavor/fragrance applications. Export volumes from China have expanded steadily since 2022, while U.S. exports have plateaued, and Indian imports have risen notably—reflecting growing domestic downstream manufacturing activity.

About Dimethyl sulfide

Dimethyl sulfide (DMS) is a colorless, volatile liquid with a strong, characteristic odor often described as resembling cooked cabbage or corn. It is an organic sulfur compound classified as a thioether and has a boiling point of 37 °C and a melting point of −98 °C. DMS serves primarily as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), methionine, and other sulfur-containing compounds. Its main industrial applications are in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and specialty chemicals, where it functions as a methylating agent, flavor precursor, or catalyst ligand in selective oxidation processes.

Sulfiding agent.
Methyl sulfide has an intense, unpleasant odor, wild radish, cabbage-like. It can be tolerated as a green vegetable noteonly at very low levels (0.1 to 3.0 ppm
