Dipotassium phosphate (K₂HPO₄) is a white, crystalline, odorless, non-volatile solid that is highly soluble in water and hygroscopic under ambient conditions; it decomposes without melting upon strong heating. It is an inorganic salt and a common potassium–phosphate buffer compound. Industrially, it serves as a nutrient source, pH regulator, and stabilizer in food and beverage formulations, and as a buffering agent and electrolyte in pharmaceutical preparations. It is also used in fertilizer production to supply both potassium and phosphorus, and as a component in industrial water treatment systems and yeast nutrient blends for fermentation processes.
