It also serves as a key building block for synthetic glycerin, elastomers (e.g., epichlorohydrin rubber), and water-treatment polymers such as polyamine-epichlorohydrin condensates. Typical end-use sectors include construction, automotive, electronics, and pulp and paper.
Epichlorohydrin is mainly used in the production of epoxy resins. It was also used as a solvent for paints, varnishes, lacquers, cellulose esters and ethers, and gums. Epichlorohydrin was historically used as an insecticide fumigant.
