Citric acid monohydrate Market share- How big is the Citric acid monohydrate market?

China is the dominant global exporter of citric acid monohydrate, accounting for the largest share of international shipments, followed by the United States and Germany; major importers include India, Mexico, and Vietnam, reflecting strong demand in food, pharmaceutical, and cleaning product manufacturing. Citric acid monohydrate prices have remained relatively stable over the past two years amid steady export volumes from top suppliers and consistent import growth in emerging markets.

About Citric acid monohydrate

Citric acid monohydrate is a white, crystalline, odorless solid that is highly soluble in water and hygroscopic under ambient conditions; it decomposes without melting at approximately 100–102 °C upon loss of its water of hydration. It is an organic carboxylic acid and the monohydrated form of citric acid (2-hydroxy-1,2,3-propanetricarboxylic acid). Primarily used as an acidulant, chelating agent, and preservative, it serves as a key functional ingredient in food and beverage formulations, pharmaceutical excipients, and cleaning products. In industrial applications, it functions as a building block for metal citrate salts and is employed in electroplating baths, detergent formulations, and polymer stabilization. Typical application areas include food & beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and household and industrial cleaners.

Citric Acid Monohydrate is used as an Acidulate, Food additive, Pharmaceutical application and as a synergist in antioxidant mixtures.Citric Acid Monohydrate is a tricarboxylic acid found in citrus fruits. Citric acid is used as an excipient in pharmaceutical preparations due to its antioxidant properties. It maintains stability of active ingredients and is used as a preservative. It is also used as an acidulant to control pH and acts as an anticoagulant by chelating calcium in blood.
Citric acid monohydrate occurs as colorless or translucent crystals, or as a white crystalline, efflorescent powder. It is odorless and has a strong acidic taste. The crystal structure is orthorhombic. monohydrate crystals lose water of crystallization in dry air or when heated to about 40 to 50 °C. Citric acid monohydrate softens at 75 °C and melts at approximately 100 °C.
