Ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (NH₄H₂PO₄) is a white, crystalline, odorless solid that is highly soluble in water and non-volatile; it decomposes before melting, typically above 190 °C. It is an inorganic phosphate salt and a source of both nitrogen and phosphorus. Primarily used as a flame retardant in cellulose-based materials—including textiles, paper, and wood—it also serves as a nutrient source in fertilizers and as a buffering agent in food and pharmaceutical applications. In electronics manufacturing, it functions as a dopant in semiconductor production and as a component in soldering fluxes. Its principal application areas include flame-retardant additives, agrochemicals, food processing, and electronic materials.
